Nick Vaughn Hired as Next Camden Fairview Head Football Coach

The Camden Fairview School Board hired Nick Vaughn as the next Camden Fairview Cardinal head football coach and assistant athletic director at tonight’s special board meeting. Coach Vaughn comes to Camden Fairview from Little Rock Parkview where he was the defensive coordinator the past three years. He has nineteen years of coaching experience, including twelve years at El Dorado where he was the offensive coordinator.

Coach Vaughn said, “I cannot express how humbled and honored I am to be named Head Football Coach at Camden Fairview High School. I would first like to thank Mr. Embry and the rest of the committee for believing in my vision for the future of Cardinal Football. Today is not about me, it’s about this program and our student-athletes. I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started coaching these young men.”

The search for the next Camden Fairview head football coach has been underway since Coach Jake Monden resigned on December 14, 2021 to take a head coaching job near his hometown in Oklahoma. The head coach interview committee consisted of Athletic Director Ricky Tucker, Assistant Superintendent Andre Toney, Cardinal football booster club president Jamie Semple, former booster club president John Dawson, former Cardinal football coach Sherman Brooks, former Cardinal football player and parent Keith Johnson, and Cardinal football supporter Richard Robertson. The committee conducted interviews this week. Mr. Embry then met with the candidates and made a recommendation to the Camden Fairview School Board at tonight’s meeting.

Mr. Embry said, “Our community always offers great support to our students and Cardinal athletics, and I’m grateful this group was willing to step up to help make sure we hired the best person for the Cardinal football program. Everyone on that committee loves Cardinal football as much as anyone in town. They’ve always worked hard to support our program. I’m confident that Coach Vaughn is the right choice to keep Cardinal football moving in the right direction.”

Coach Vaughn will meet with Cardinal football players next week.
