Athenia Dodds Chosen as Camden Fairview Intermediate Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to the 2021-22 Camden Fairview Intermediate School Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Athenia Dodds!

Mrs. Dodds has been teaching for 12 years, and she has been at CFIS for eight of those years. She holds a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Educational Leadership. “I strive to create a more open relationship between my students and myself. When I used this approach, I noticed that students were more engaged with each other. My beliefs include the following: mutual respect, responsibility, collaboration, engaging, and reflection. I have my students respect themselves and each other by listening to each other share their thoughts. I have noticed when students are engaging in the lesson, they are also collaborating together,” said Mrs. Dodds.

When nominating Mrs. Dodds for CFIS Teacher of the Year, a co-worker shared, “Mrs. Dodds cares deeply for all students, not just the students that are in her class. She steps in and talks with students who she may see giving another teacher a hard time or a student who seems to need an encouraging word. She also provides this same encouragement to other teachers. She always has a smile on her face and you can tell that she genuinely cares about children and wants them to be successful. Students respect her and so do her coworkers.” Another co-worker said, “She is a dedicated teacher and an expert in her field. She is a lead teacher in the Math curriculum. She has the respect from her fellow teachers, her students and parents. She fosters a good school culture with respect and success with her students and with her fellow teachers.”
