Betts and Parson Certified as RISE K-2 Trainers

Camden Fairview School District is now home to two R.I.S.E. (Reading Initiative for Student Excellence) Arkansas K-2 trainers. Fairview Elementary School (FES) dyslexia interventionist Jimna Betts and literacy facilitator Kelly Parson recently completed 36 hours of professional development during a 12-day “Training of Trainers” course to become R.I.S.E K-2 trainers credentialed by the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education.

“Having trainers on staff will be a huge benefit to Camden Fairview. Not only will they train our teachers in R.I.S.E but also be able to assist throughout the school year with questions and implementation strategies,” said Tara Armstrong, Camden Fairview’s Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. “These ladies work well together and have made big strides in helping us be more in line with the Science of Reading,” Armstrong continued.

Ms. Parson said, “I would love to thank Mrs. Jimna Betts for her wonderful mentorship she willingly provided since day one. All of her knowledge, skills, and the love she has for the students we educate have carried me through my first year as a literacy facilitator and becoming a R.I.S.E trainer. Together, Mrs. Betts and I will do all we can to support Camden Fairview teachers as they work to make our students successful readers.” Congratulations to Mrs. Betts and Ms. Parson!
